Challenge
The publisher needed a store that handles the specifics of the book market: pre-orders for upcoming releases, exclusive bundles and merch, discounts, several formats of the same book. Off-the-shelf builders handled this poorly.
Solution
The store is built on Laravel without a boxed CMS: the Lunar e-commerce core handles the catalog and orders, while the storefront and business logic follow the publisher's processes. Search runs on Meilisearch, background jobs on Horizon queues.
What we built
- A catalog with search, URL filters, sorting, genres and "Popular", "New" and "Pre-order" collections.
- Book pages with formats, stock and prices; exclusives and bundles.
- A cart with server-side availability checks and an idempotent checkout with no duplicate orders.
- WayForPay online payments and Nova Poshta delivery.
- Registration, customer account and order history.
- Double opt-in subscription and eSputnik integration for newsletters.
- A publisher blog for SEO and announcements.
Outcome
The publisher got a store built around its own processes and easy to grow: new product types, promotions and integrations go into the code instead of a dozen plugins.
